Vice-president of the Romanian Society of Epidemiology, board member of International Network of Epidemiology in Policy and Assoc. Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Victor Babes” Timisoara.

As senior epidemiologist at the Regional Center of Public Health Timisoara, Prof. Assoc. Popovici participates in the epidemiological surveillance of the ascribed territory and in the elaboration of public health studies.

Between 2005 and 2009, he held the position of Director of the Institute of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Leonida Georgescu” Timisoara, having as his main activity the coordination and management of activities relating to the public health subprograms and research projects carried out in the Institute.

Between 2007 and 2009 he held the position of alternate member of the Administration Board of the ECDC Stockholm Sweden.

Between 2010 and 2013 he held the position of President of the Administration Board of the Hospital of Infectious Diseases and Pneumology “Victor Babes” Timisoara

Between 2014-2018 he held the position of President of the Romanian Society of Epidemiology

Emilian Damian Popovici has numerous roles in the organizing of several regional, national and international conferences and campaigns focused on public health, among which:

• ​The national campaign on protection of health through vaccination - infectious diseases and public health, 2017
• ​Co-chair of the National Conference on Microbiology and Epidemiology, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.
• ​President of the Organizing Committee of the National Conference with international participation "Challenges and perspectives in public health", 2014
• ​Member of the Scientific Council of the Central and Eastern European Conference on Health and the Environment, 2008
•          Member of the Organizing Committee of the 23th World Congress of Social Psychiatry 2019,

Co-chair of the Organizing Committee of the 1-st International Congress of Perinatal Total Health 2018
