Short biography Professor Rasa Liutkevičienė MD, PhD. Faculty of Medicine, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas, Lithuania.
Rasa Liutkevičienė is a professor of Ophthalmology at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, where she directs the Laboratory of Ophthalmology, Neuroscience Institute.
She received her PhD in biomedical sciences, from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Medicine, for thesis “Age-related macular degeneration and ischemic heart disease associations with matrix metalloproteinases gene polymorphisms” in 2011.
Rasa Liutkevičienė works in the field of molecular biology as a scientist, and as an ophthalmologist she practices medical therapy and surgical treatment of inflammatory diseases of the accessory organs of the eye.
She is interested in diagnosis and treatment outcomes of Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, and differential diagnosis; therefore, her scientific interests include genetic, epigenetic, and metabolomics research in patients with optic neuritis, age-related macular degeneration, pituitary adenoma, and laryngeal malignancies.
She is the author and co-author of over 380 publications (65 in PubMed) and two book chapters. She has got three awards as young scientist for scientific research in biology, medicine, and geoscience.
